99+ Cobra Owners
Saw a deal on one the other day and was wondering what people who had them thought about them. I know Lee had one but I think he sold it. I am mainly concerned with longterm dependability and stock or (near stock ) power.

Chip had a 99 and we still have our 01. I can't tell you how long it will last based off our experience because Shelly's is only at 44k miles now.
Nathan's 96 has over 100k miles and I am pretty sure Wall's 96 was over 100k miles when he decided to put the forged bottom end in it. Nothing was wrong with it, he just wanted to beef it up for the blower |

I'm about to catch up.
That is, if I ever get off my ass and put my intake back together.

A couple of things to look for is a poor performing coolant system because the aluminum alloy engines can't take overheating as well as iron motors. Look at the pan and make sure you don't have any oil leaks especially around the water-to-oil cooler. (Look for the oil filter, what it screws into is the cooler) Finally when you drive it, make sure it revs clean and smooth to redline. Any vibration can mean trouble in the rotating assembly which is $$$ compared to other engines.
