Tires?

I need to get some good street tires. They need to have a stiff sidewall but still able to grip the road similar to a drag radial. Because i could fill the sidewall wanting to cave from my nittos.

i have the 555r's. You have the 555r2's on Shelly's cobra right?

yep I have the RII's on both our cars. Good tire. It doesn't seem to wiggle like the R's

The RIIs are actually a "road racing" radial. They have a stiffer sidewall for hard cornering. Nitto actually came out with them after they found out that a lot of people were running the Rs in autocrosses and open track events and they said it wasn't very safe to do that with the softer sidewall.

yea feeling your tire bending is not a good feeling. What about your kumo's?

Last about the same as drag radials, but without the traction. As far as traction, I'd put them against the 555 street tire any day, but they wear twice as fast.

My next set of tires will either be 4 275/40 555s or 2 275/40 555s and 2 275/40 555RIIs. It will just depend how much longer I can stretch these Kumhos.
