What's Next Is.....

I have decided to put 4:10's in the mach. Along with this i have decided to change transmissions, and put in a 6 speed with a different ratio to acommodate the 4:10's. This way put it in 6th gear and curise.

Don't be scared go with 4:30's or 4:56. What 6 speed are you going with? I noticed at the track sunday everytime you shifted gears your brake lights came on. Was you grazing the brake pedal?

Funny that you mention this....I am installing the 4.10's in our Mach 1 right now. I started tearing it down last night. They should work really welll with the automatic in ours.

Re: What's Next Is.....

The high gear in the T56 in my Cobra is barely any higher than your 5th gear. The main difference is that the gears are closer ratio from gear to gear. I don't think the T56 swap will be worth what it costs. The 4.10s will be great.

Re: What's Next Is.....

alot of money considering you have a perfectly good tranny. wait till you kill it then consider a swap. you could almost get a blower for the price of a T56.

Re: What's Next Is.....

im going a different way with the car. Cornering. im trying to stay away from a power adder. But with the 4.10's in my five speed would to much gas for a daily driver. Thats why i was wanting a 6 speed for the extra gear for cruising.

Re: What's Next Is.....

6 -speed may be a good tranny for cornering.

I wonder though, if a 6-speed with 4.10's would be much (if any) better than your current 3.55's and 5-speed.

Let me look up some gearing stuff

Re: What's Next Is.....

Nathan and Scott both get over 25 mpg with 5 speed transmissions and 4.10s, IIRC. I don't think it'll be THAT much worse on gas. Seriously, how much gas money would you have to save to pay for that transmission? For what the tranny costs, you could finish your suspension and get a chip burned.
