mustang convertible question

Due to a discussion I have got into on another forum, when did mustangs start coming with glass curtain (back glass) instead of plastic. Was it 94 or did it start as early as 93?

Seems I remember seeing a car in the Honda parking lot with the rear window falling out/down. It was a sn95 car and I thought it was the plastic window. I may be confused though.

Re: mustang convertible question

funny you should mention that. I think I have seen some early sn95's with the plastic window but couldn't remember.

Some dude tried to tell me that he had 2 88 GT vert's that had glass for the rear instead of plastic I know that wasn't factory back then

Isn't the back window in Chris's vert glass.

Well, if they are 88's, they sure could have used a new top in 17 years.

Mine's plastic, and as far as I remember, all the foxes came with plastic from the factory.

Re: mustang convertible question

No, most Foxes came with glass.

I have seen many low milage oringianl 1985 and 1986 GT verts with the original back glass, these were all original fully documented never tampered cars.
Also I had a 1991 all original LX 5.0 with the back window as glass, this car was also an all original car.

I am pretty sure that I had seen one that had no rear defroster, but not positive.

I am thinking that if you got a vert with the rear defroster then you got a glass back window. But not positive.

Re: mustang convertible question

On my '85 it was in the same area as the HVAC controls.

On the 88 to 93 they are to the right of the steering wheel, the lower flapper switch.
