It will need a tune to calibrate for the gears. I forgot about that. I'd save that for after the intake, plenum, and exhaust were done. Also, if he's planning to change wheel and tire sizes significantly, do that first to so the speedo can be calibrated all at once.

If he will need to do the tune after the gears would ya'll suggest doing the exhaust/intake stuff first then?

I am sure that they would like to only do the tune one time.
I would, that is the path i take on every car I have had
bolt-ons first and get the gear and tune done together.
after bolt-ons the reason i would do tune is cause the air/fuel would be off and the tune would correct that

So what kind of gas mileage would you be looking at after it was tuned with the 4.10 gears? I mean, what's it going to do my interstate rpms? I don't think gears are a good mod for me personally. I basically have the same car in this thread 01 auto GT..and all I do is interstate driving.

-Look at me, I posted!-

Gears = better gas mileage on freeway. RPM and gas flow are more stable than with stock gears.

In my 00GT automatic, i ran 4.10s and at 80mph you are pushing around 2700rpm. I still got 21-22 on strictly freeway. Probably 14-15 around town.

I would do suspension stuff first (SBC's, LCA's, Springs, CC plates, Struts etc.)
Then basic bolt-ons (pullies, CAI, plenum, exhaust)
Then Gears and/or wheels/tires if changing size (and have custom tune done at that time).

Get with Doug904 from Bamachips on the tune. He's local, does a hell of a job and has some great tunes for SOHC PI cars as well as doing wonders with the auto tranny. They wont be dissapointed.
