4.6 Thunderbird

Are the 4.6s in the 94 Thunderbirds the same as in the 96-98 Mustangs? A corworker of mine recently got a good deal on a 94 Tbird LX (I assume its a 4.6). However the car does have a couple problems and his wife said it "felt like the engine was going to fall out". Think it may just need a tune up? He said the car had been sitting in someone's yard for at least a year.

I don't know, the "motor is about to fall out" kind of worries me

No, the tbirds swapped to the 4.6 in 94. 93 was the last year of 5.0's in tbirds.

It's pretty much the same motor. I know the intake is different, but I believe the heads and cams may be the same. I think it was rated at a little less power (195 comes to mind, but I'm not sure), but I think that is mainly because of the exhaust configuration (VERY restrictive single exhaust).
