Optima red top won't fit in the battery tray

What do I do to make it work? Someone on SVTP said they cut one end of the tray and used a battery hold down, but hacking the tray up seems kinda ghetto. Anyone else put a red top in a new edge car?

Wow... how small is the stock battery in a new edge? I know the Optima is smaller than the stock Fox-body batteries.

The Optima is about 1/8" - 1/4" longer than the battery tray.

yes you have to cut the tray. I have not cut the one in our 01 yet so the red top in it sits crooked.

My Optima red-top wouldn't fit in my battery tray either. We just cut the lip off the tray and it's fine. No one will ever notice unless it was out.

i didnt have to cut my tray, weird.

did you unbolt that little wedge block in the bottom of the tray?

my battery sits kind of loose, but it aint going anywhere unless i flip the car at 100mph and lose the hood in the process.

I'm pretty retarded, but not that retarded. The '99s must have different trays.

I'm going to try to find time to pull the tray out and trim the lip off one end one day this week.

Are you using a hold down with it or are you using your "the hood will hold it down" technique?
