Carb Size

Was wondering if a 650 quick fuel carb is to big for a 302 with afr 165 heads and a bigger cam. I know a 600 carb is sufficent enough... just wondering if the 650 is too big for this combo?

I ran a 650 square bore holley mechanical double pumper on my '85, it had heads that would be about what the 165's are, about 10.5:1 compressions and a 500 lift roller cam. In my racing the car ran 3500-6000 for about an hour at a time so I wanted the ability to run a little fater to keep things cool. I never did tune the carb, but on a chassis dyno pull it registered a 12.5 AFR (as I recall).

robert, you should be fine with that. i ran a 780 pro systems on my 347 combo. you might have to do a jet change or two. allen
