GT500 Numbers

These cars are easy to modify. I am not by any means a mechanic, but I was able to easily do all the modifications myself - all bolt on parts, and the tune was a mail order tune that I loaded that appears to be spot on with a very safe air/fuel ratio.

I have also seen where other guys are easily getting over 700 rwhp on these modular engines, with a higher stage TVS unit or a Kenny Bell or Whipple. I think although the stock horsepower for these cars is 500hp, from what I have also seen, the RWHP is about 440 bone stock.

The stock Goodyear F1 Supercar tires may be good for going fast, but the traction in accelerating is not very good. I am working on wearing them out so that I can get drag radials.

And the weight issue, although I have reduced the weight down a little from the 3,950 lbs this car came with, it is still a heavy car. All the safety engineering they had to do really added weight, but they did not include a spare tire in any GT500's (only a can of fix a flat). I don't think they could find a donut tire to fit around the huge brembo brakes.

Huh didn't know none of them had spare tires. I guess that would just be more added weight.

alot of the newer cars dont the charger srt8 has a compressor no spare! Nice numbers let see the diff wanna run a slow cobra let me know!

There was one at the charity dyno event back in April that put down 427 on it's first pull then 501 after the tune.

Those tires suck. I hate them. My old man's 01 Z06 had those on there. They are too loud, too expensive. lousy mileage, and get rock hard in the cooler months. He went with some Firestones about a year ago and haven't looked back. They have a much higher tread rating, same temperature and speed rating, much cheaper, and much better in all weather conditions.

Hey YellowSVT, I somehow don't think your cobra is slow - great looking car.

I am not looking to taking mine back out to the track until I can get some stickier tires, but thanks for the invite.

Hey Skillet, the 427 is only 13hp different than what the average 440hp is bone stock. Some are a little lower, and perhaps some are a little higher.
The 501rwhp with a tune sounds like it also included a cold air intake. With a 2.6" pulley, that car would make about 530rwhp. The point I was trying to make earlier is how easy these cars are to just bolt on significant instant horsepower very easily without being a technician.


I agree with you here on the F1 Supercar tires. I don't know about the Firestones, but I was thinking about going with Nitto's 555R for the rear and the 555's for the front. When I drove my car in cold weather with the Goodyears on it was pretty exciting and scarry.

As far as I know the car was 100% mechanically stock. They didn't use anything other than a laptop that day. I don't think the Nittos are going to be very useful at your power level but they will definitely be better than the goodyears and probably last longer too.

GTCPA, Hey man, nice numbers and car...Good to know Blake is still in business...Haven't talked to him in a while...he tuned my 06 GT last summer...I need to pay him another visit soon after I add a few more mods....
