sounds like popping through the intake

Got the fairmont running.....ANYWAY.

background info:

timing set to ~10* with spout out
FP set to ~39PSI with vac. disconnected
TFS heads with 3924's gapped to .050
EGR disconnected (off road bassani x pipe)

OK...now the problem, it smells rich as hell but I was under the impression that popping through the intake was lean? also, IAC may be suspect as idle "searches" a little (not bad) (I have removed and sprayed liberally with carb/choke cleaner to no avail).

Secondary problem, when under load (getting onto the gas) it pops/skips BAD. Plugs are fresh, coil is NEW, wires are almost new....this is really getting to my last nerve, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Brad

I "HAD" a C&L 73mm MAF supposedly calibrated for the 30 #inj's but it didn't have any colors on the flowtube when I took it off the meter itself. So I swapped those injectors out for the stock 19#'s and stock meter and it still does the popping under load.....also O2's look good and are also newish, I'm about to go check the trouble codes as the check engine light is on.

If so bring it up to .98-.99

no clue (even after google-age) how to read trouble codes (too few brain cells hitting on ALL cylinders )

at any rate, hooked up the test light as described (into pin #4 of test connector and to positive battery terminal, and jumper wire from pin #2 to the other "little plug".....light comes on with KOnEngOff

5 1 8 1 8 2 8 5 8 3 5 1 8 1 8 2 8 5 8 3 then long pause 1 5 1 9 6 5 1 9 6

I think the 81 82 85 83 is all egr stuff isn't it?

Any change to the way it runs?

What firing order are you using?
