For a little more money, you can get the whole fan/fan controller kit from dccontrol, with a TRUE known cfm and PROVEN use/success in the stang community. Be advised that many fan manufacturers have their cfm ratings at rather "lofty" levels...

www.dccontrol.com

Fan number - 3018-M - $339.95

Or, you can purchase an OEM MN-12 electric fan (ford tbird/cougar) fan at your own source, and get the fan controller separate to save a few bucks (controller FK-35).

The fan is only half the equation - you NEED a good fan controller like the dcc unit to run it right without eating alternators...

But it looks like the 3018-M is 5.25" thick.. I need 3.5" or smaller.

Re: I'm looking for a new electric fan..

It is my opinion that the factory units will pull more air than those aftermarket units as 93Cobra#2771 noted. You can go with the aftermarket one if you do not want to customize the unit but you maybe disapointed in the cooling abilities.

I have the Taurus fan with the DC controls fk35 and I have had no problems what so ever. Mine may get to 200 degrees on a real hot day.

How many times are you going to mention a MN-12 fan in this thread

Re: I'm looking for a new electric fan..

Shit, I've mentioned it so many times in so many threads on so many boards, I've lost count!

I didn't go back and review my posts in this thread like I normally do...

Seriously, like Clint suggested, if the fans won't keep your ride cool, what good is it if they fit?

I know of several blown combos that use that setup. The key is that the fan is offset to one side, so that 5" isn't aimed right at your WP. And, you can relocate your rad forward (at the bottom) a good 4-5 inches, making it MUCH easier to fit a decent fan in there...

Re: I'm looking for a new electric fan..

OK.. So tonight I'm going to move the bottom of the rad forward & see how much room I have to work with.

Thanks

When you look at my radiator from the top of the car, you can see the entire bottom of the rad support where the radiator USED to sit. I pulled it THAT FAR forward. Doing that gives you a TON of room. BTW, this is with the MK8 fan, which is about the thickest thing out there (but one of the most powerful)...
