Torque Specs for flywheel/clutch/bellhousing/tranny? lol
Hey guys.. I will once again say how much I love this forum. No shit talking just really nice experienced mustang guys. I owe you guys a lot and just want you to know that every time someone helps me with input and advice I am very thankful.
With that said.. I need some help. I'm picking up my clutch tommorrow and doing my tranny swap tommorrow night and if nec. finishing it saturday. I have never done a clutch but my buddy has and knows about lining it up and so forth. What I need help with is.. I'm putting a flywheel from a factory T-5 car in it because i'm afraid my SROD one is too small and probably needs to be replaced.. can someone please tell me the torque/lbs on the following? I was hoping someone might have it written down or saved somewhere on the web.. Torque/lbs of pressure required list: Flywheel: Clutch/pressure plate: Bellhousing: Tranny to bellhousing: Thanks.. another question to ask the pros.. I don't have a lift so where putting the car on stands.. Can someone please tell me if its easier to bold the clutch to the flywheel and then the bellhousing and then the tranny or just do the bellhousing first to the tranny and bolt it up as one piece? Also.. with the flywheel coming off and a new one on is it possible to bolt up the clutch to the flywheel and then put the flywheel on assembled? Thanks guys.. any input at all or questions that you can answer about this will be appreciated! |

Flywheel to crank: 75-85 ft lbs
Clutch/pressure plate to flywheel: 24 ft lbs Bellhousing to engine: 28-38 ft lbs You will have to bolt it all in piece by piece. So flywheel then disc then pressure plate, then trans.

Hey man I appreciate it a lot. Thats not much torqueing on the clutch or tranny but i'll take your word for it. As for the tranny bolting to the bellhousing.. should I bolt up the bellhousing first and then the tranny or bolt the bellhousing to the tranny and put it in as one piece?

I have done only one but i bolted up the bellhousing first and then bolted up the trans. Never tried it the other way around.

you have to do the bellhousing first, then tranny.

change tranny fluids while you are there if you haven't already since you will have it down. would be a good time to check the rear main seal and replace if needed. just a thought good luck.
