If you're talking about the 3G type,no,the only differences in them are internally. The armature and field are different (and sometimes larger along with the case),as are the voltage regulators. Are you doing a 3G swap on yours?

It will give you more juice, but it won't fry anything as long as it's wired up correctly, the voltage regulator does just that, regulates the output that is needed. It's not a plug and play swap though,I did it on my coupe with a 130a from a '98 V6 car.One of the best mods/upgrades you can do to a fox,if you need any pointers,or pics, let me know if I can help you out! I'm not sure who all on here has done that mod,but I *think* coupe,Qwksnke, and ItalianLX have done it too.

There's only a slight bit of grinding on the bracket required and running a larger gauge wire to the battery. Ryan has a good write up on his website:

http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=75

Also, he has kits that includes all the wire, fusing, connector, etc... if you want to do it right.

I bought my alternator and one of his kits and everything was top-notch and decently priced. However (unless things have changed from a year and a half ago), be ready to possibly have to wait a few weeks for shipping because he stays pretty busy with other things.
