front end noise

I pulled out of my familys driveway this weekend and there was a lot of popping and squeaking from the front of my truck. I had the wheels turned to the left and there was a bump at the end of the drive way. I know ford has shitty suspension but I was thinking it was my ball joints. My ball joints are sealed so they have to be replaced if bad.

Anyones thoughts??

Re: front end noise

I would guess ball joints. Jack up the truck and see if you can move the wheel without moving the steering rack. I had to replace one of mine in the F250 last week

I'm not sure about Ford trucks, but I know Chevy's and Nissan's both have steering stops that creak and groan if you hit a bump while making a turn at full lock.

Re: front end noise

Jamison, my 03 F150 does the same thing and it is not the ball joints. There is a steering limiter on the frame of the truck and a wear pad on the arm, these are hitting at full turn with the suspension under flex. Took it to a dealer when I noticed this and they said it was normal.

Re: front end noise

Jamison, you are probably experiancing "the Clunk" do a search on F150 and you can read what I am talking about.

You can also grease the steering stops and it will help some.

I doubt its your ball joints.....remember Lees 03 F250 has over 80,000 miles on it, and has seen alot of off-road use......unless someone really abused your truck before you got it.
