Brake question......

What is the problem with this? I just got back from breaking the new rotors in. It looks to me like the pad isnt making complete contact with the rotor.

Re: Brake question......

Did you change brake pads? If not that's why, the old rotors probably had grooves warn in them so the old brake pads are gonna be the same way.

That would have been best. Old pads on new rotors will wrok fine though as long as the pads weren't too bad to begin with. Watch the marks over the next couple of days and see if the mark grows. If it does the pads are wearing down to match the rotor.

I checked the pads when I pulled them off and they seem ok. Well I just dont want to ruin my new rotors. Ive been really careful with them so far. I dont want to get them really hot for at least 300 miles.

Re: Brake question......

I would definitely say get new pads. I have installed new pads on old (unturned) rotors, but I have never put old pads on new (or freshly turned) rotors. To me, it just doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on rotors and put used pads on them.... especially when using costly high performance rotors.
