manual tranny question for the experts
what is wrong with a tranny if it keeps popping out of 5th gear and is sometimes really hard to get into that gear?
synchro? this is on my friends T-56 |

if it was just hard to go in that particular gear,I would think a synchronizer problem,put popping out of gear sounds to me like a shifter issue,like either something is binding,worn,or out of adjustment

Shifter or a shift fork. Not sure what other gears that particular fork engage. Is it only 5th gear?
Best bet: Call "T56rebuilds" 713-937-4411 Ask for Amber and tell her Matt with SPEC clutch sent you.

The keys in the slider hub are probably all broken or non-existent.

only 5th gear does it.. 1/2 the time it pops out of 5th gear... alot of the times its hard to even get it to go into 5th.

might want to try to adjust your shifter, mine did that in 3rd, somthing you might want to try first before you rip out the tranny

hehe make shure you have an ass load of extensions and a couple of swivles, i still left one starter bolt out when i converted mine to a 3650
