i am getting finatial support for my "little ellie" project
my grandad has agreed to pay for my tranny getting fixed or a replace ment my qeustion is, is there a six speed that would drop inplace of a t-5 in my 91 fox 5.0 if i can get the full kit (tranny, crossmember ,bellhousing ect.) i would like a price and a pic and where i could get it i cant have my grandad searching around for mixed matched stuff or if the six speed option doesnt work out i would like a completly rebiult world class or same level t-5 that is internally brand new(good for the next 100k miles)

thank everyone

D&D offers a complete 6-speed kit.
As far as mixing and matching parts, you can't because you have to have a custom driveshaft when installing a t-56 in a fox

The internals of a T-5 have little to do with its longevity; that's more dependant on the way it is driven. A worn out T-5 could easily last over 200K miles if driven conservatively (no clutch drops, easy shifing, no power adder, etc.), On the other hand, a brand new T-5 could go out in less than 10,000 if it has been beat on teally hard.

An earlier TKO or a newer tremec would be a good choice. Or a G-force T5. Call Astro Transmission or ProMotion Powertrain.

 T56 won't just "bolt in place." Different mounts, driveshaft, bellhousing, shifter, etc...

The G-force kit in a T5 woudl be your best bet. Excellent trans (up to about 500hp) and everything fits as a stocker would. Again. Astro Performance or ProMotion Powertrain has them, or you can send one to them for the work. :nice:

Make sure you get a GOOD performance clutch, that can handle the trans, and the shifting. And like Brian said, how you take care of it,and maintain it will dictate the life of it,IOW,put good name brand ATF in it(preferably synthetic),and not the cheapo Dollar General shit! When I first bought my truck in my sig,I knew it was going to need a new tranny in it(M5OD 5 speed),it was whining so bad that a guy actually asked me if I had a supercharger in it! I made it last for 8000 miles, and 6 1/2 months before I bought a rebuilt, which was NOT cheap, and I have done everything I said above, and it still works like a brand new one 4 years, and 25000 miles later!

thants good info but my tranny is alredy hardly able to hit 2nd at all and grinds into almost aall gears regardless of how soft you shift and to hit 2nd you have to slam it in and thats to get it in 2nd at all

i am telling you just get on ebay you can find a 3550 for like a 1000 with bellhousing get a spec stage 3 and get on summit racing and get the 31 spline aluminum driveshaft for the mustang. the trans will handle 550 wheel horse power. buddy of mine has one and i have one. his with 550 has lasted a couple of years and is still going strong

In the description it is a old stile tko. Before they came out with the tko 500 and 600 they had the 3550. It is a five speed and he is saying fifth gear is overdrive.

I wanted the G-force straight cut gears for my svo. Got a nice rebuild for a lot lower in price. The kit cost more than my car. Look into the G force kit. easy work.

Accorning to the auction, that tranny came out of a '94 car. If you get that transmission, you'll need to spend another $200 or so to get the correct input shaft and bearing retainer for your car.

If you go with the Tremec,and/or need a different length driveshaft, let me know what length you need,I have 3 or 4 in different lengths out in my shop.I might have that will fit,it'll save you some $,and get the wife off my ass about getting rid of some of my "junk" I don't need!
