Tire question...

Well my wheels came in, 18x9.5 silver y2k wheels. Got them from GEF. I have talked to a couple different wheel people I order from about tires and they have told me if I plan on going lower than my present 1.5 inch drop(which I do plan to do), then I may wanna do a 245/40/18 up front and then if I want, a 275/35/18 out back. Does this sound like a good plan? Thanks for any input!

I think you can put 245's on 9.5" wheels, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have 265's on mine and they are just about right, I think 245's will look extremely Getto and could roll off the rim in a hard turn.

I run 245 on my 17x9 rims for road racing.
It's all about the side wall, tire to tire they will be totally different

I still have another day to decide which size to go with on the front before I order... Alot of wheel and tire packages I am seeing have 245's all the way around with those wheels. I have a Mustang book I bought at Books A Million and in there it shows that the 2000 Cobra R came stock with 265's all the way around so I may go with something like a 255 or 265 on the front and then I guess the 275 on the back. I had good luck out of the Nitto 555's on my BMW so I will go back with those. Thanks for the input!

If you can wait until tomorrow afternoon I can run Jeanne's by there and you can see what the 275's all the way around looks like.

Re: Tire question...

In my opinion 245 tire would be way to narrow for a 9.5" wheel. Step up to a 265-275 minimum.

Steele is planning to open the first of March

Re: Tire question...

I guess I will see if I can float the extra cash for 275's all around, It would be better in the long run.
