Anyone know where I can get info on swapping a 302 into my 4Runner??

I have a 1990 SR5 4 Runner 4x4 that is knocking like crazy(notorious 3.SLOW) in the top end. I have heard that a common V8 swap is the 302 because it is narrower than the Chevy V8. I would like to find some info on this, and someone who may make an adapter to use the Yota tranny like they make to work with the Chevy motors. Thanks if anyone knows anything!
