351 Stroker musings
I haven't paid much attention or researched here like I have with the 5.0 based strokers over the years....but...I am wondering...like the issues that go along with 347 vs. 331 in longevity/durability etc. Does anyone have any insight or info like this when it comes to the 351 stroker combinations?
ci. bore stroke 351 4.00 3.50 357 4.03 3.50 377 4.03 3.70 383 4.03 3.75 393 4.03 3.85 408 4.03 4.00 418 4.03 4.10 427 4.03 4.17 I'd like to go with the 427 but want daily driver type material that I can take cross country and put a ton of miles on....so if that won't stand up to what I want I'll opt for something different but would really like to go that route.

Re: 351 Stroker musings
Same rules apply. The longer the rod with shorter stroke will yield the most robust design.

Re: 351 Stroker musings
Isnt the durability issue caused by the extreme rod to piston angle? I dont know the tech term for this

Re: 351 Stroker musings
What I basically want to avoid is any potential oiling issues like the early 347's had. Stroking a 351 isn't nearly as popular as the 302 so I'd just like to find some feedback somewhere on them.
I don't "need" the 427 but I'd like it for the overall presentation of the package I am putting together if I go this route

Re: 351 Stroker musings
427 cid just sounds too cool to pass up, especially for a small block!
I personnaly do not know the answer to your question, but I will ask the engine builder that we have used in Illinois next time I talk to him. He does a real lot of Historic / Vintage small block Fords, and most are 351 based strokers. |

Re: 351 Stroker musings
That would be great input Craig....considering this is for a vintage Ford
Here is what I am thinking....I am building the '67 into a Shelby clone(NOT ELEANOR!!!!)...it will be the original Dark Moss Green with white stripes....originally I was going to do a GT 350 but now I am thinking of going with the GT 500 stripes and using the 427 stroker based off the 351W block. This will keep the front end lighter than a big block. It's a restomod...but the ring of a 427 stroker is what is attractive

Re: 351 Stroker musings
The ONLY things IMO that make the Eleanor car look good is the color combo and the wheels...that's it!
This is the wheel I have in mind right now but that may change...Newstalgia wheel has them and I want 17's. The other wheel option is the original Magstar but billet in a 17"...someone just came out with that one. Yes, the Dark Moss is the '67 version of Dark Highland Green...this car was originally Dark Moss with saddle interior...I will change the interior to black more than likely. This is a pic of the same color car.....I am also going to run the inboard lights in the grill
