efi 306 transplant into my '77 onefifty

most every one looked @ my previous post backfire through carb
i am going to chunk that 400 cubic inches worth of crap into the junk yard

new idea , it seems that i have an extra built efi 306 hanging around
and a wireing harness, ecm ... hmmm i wonder if that will be enough
to motivate my truck , it has 4 inch suspention lift, 33x12.50 , new process
(granny 4 speed) 4.10 or so final drive ...

so you think that will pull good enough for a truck , i figure the gearing will do most of the work ...

With 33's you may still need more gear. A friend of mine had a '93 Blazer with 35s on it and he actually got better gas mileage with 4.56s than he did with 4.10s, plus the truck drove a lot better.

Re: efi 306 transplant into my '77 onefifty

i guess we will see how it acts when i get the 306 in there

the main thing i was wondering about was if the 306 would have enough torque to do the truck justice

but a great running small block would have to be better than a 400 that skips like a stone burns oil and leaks every where. also the efi would not have any flat spots when climbing hills and maybe would be easier on gas ... it wouldnt be that great for towing...any way ive though about dropping it back down
2 inches and running smaller tires

I have put a few small blocks in place of 351Ms and 400s, I used to get bell housings from 300 6cyl pick ups and vans with 3 speeds. These bell housings worked fine with NP 4 speeds and were plentiful, They did build some 351w powered F150s 4X4s with a NP, How I found the applications for the bell housing is with a Hollander Xref.

On a side note the mounting pattern on the transmission case stayed the same for the NP 4 speeds, The bell housings I was using had 2 sets of trans. mounting bolts which were both the wide and narrow bolt patterns.
