Vortech??? Good luck...its not going to be fun, I suggest getting a 6-pack this way you can avoid an unpleasant tool throwing event.

Re: Supercharger belt change
Pulley alignment must not be right. Shouldn't be eating belts that quick. Might want to check that while your in there.

Re: Supercharger belt change
Got the belt changed today in only 3 hours! Removing the piping and unbolting everything was the easy part. The hard part was getting the tensioner to actually release enough to get the new belt on. After about an hour of pushing, pulling, and stretching Jon and I were finally able to get the thing on there. I hope to never have to do this again but I realize this is only the begining.
We've isolated the problem to definitely being an alignment issue. The pullies were correct before leaving Lee's shop but the question is why did they move? As far as the pulley itself is concerned, it's gone. The belt actually wore off the outside lip of the pulley (pictures below). Our only option was to file down the edges and put the belt back on. It appears to be aligned correctly -for the most part- since the outside lip of that pulley is gone. Besides the obvious concerns, the new belt does show some signs of wear on the outside where it's rubbing against some of the jagged spots on the pulley where Jon was unable to file any more. Re: Supercharger belt change
Only comment I have is that it is a poor design on Vortech to change a steel idler pulley out for a plastic one.
After thinking about it this morning on the way into work, I have an idea they may fix it though |

Re: Supercharger belt change
I used a STOCK Idler pulley and it works great! This is also what I used when I installed Rich's SC--and it is steel.
