Cool Question on Tires

My Lincoln needs new tires BADLY. I cannot decide if I had rather just put tires on the stock 16x7 wheels, or buy some 17 inch Mustang take-offs. I know the stock wheels would help with the sleeper look but I am not sure about tires. I know I can run a 275/40/17 on the Mustang wheels and I have liked how well the Nittos performed. But is there a tire I can run on the stockers that would give me similar results?

M/T makes their drag radial in a 255/50-16. It's a nice tire but really needs an 8" wide wheel to look right.

You would be fine with some Cobra R's or something like that. They look good on the lincs.
